Whenever I see the film from 1913, when the veterans of Pickett's charge near the stone wall, and the Yanks go out to help them over it, my eyes get wet, and I choke up, even now just writing about it.

And some time when you have a few spare minutes, Google Fitzgerald, Georgia. In the 1880s, there was a crop failure in the midwest. Georgia veterans invited their Northern counterparts to come and settle with them. Alternating streets in the town are named for Southern and Northern Generals. The town still celebrates that example of brotherhood. Stan

Good post, Stan. I've seen a pic or two in G'burg park literature, but never moving film. (Moving indeed.) Even the stills are incredibly emotional. Thanks for heads up about Fitzgerald, GA. Had never heard about that one but will czech it out. :)
