I can give you my experiences in large scale Civil War reenactments and tacticals. I know what they mean by the 'rattle of muskets', the roar of artillery and how easy it was to mistake friend from foe. Although make believe, and nobody got hurt, I've actually had the feeling of time travel. Although it is hard on the battlefield to get that effect with all the modern distractions, the night time camp experiences were the best memories of all for going back to 1863. I've got to get back into reenacting.
