Chuck,
You are still wrong. We have posted the conditions that South Carolina and the Federal government agreed to in exchange of the land. The title was not filed until 1841. Unless you can provide a document that proves the Feds had free and clear tile to this land without any conditions, then your argument is wasted. Why don't you actually do the research yourself and learn instead of using Huddleson’s biased website to find the truth? GP
The full title was given, by SC, to the Federal Government well prior to 1860. Now, unless you can prove, without a doubt, that the State legislators of 1841 were completely dishonest and the title was fradulent, then it still stands that the 125 acres allotted to Fort Sumter was the
Property of the Federal Government.
The issue of "conditions' relating to ownership was clearly covered, and agreed to by both parties. Your attempt to make these conditions prove the title is void, is not upheld by the actions of the State of South Carolina and the U.S. government in the years between 1841 and 1861.
The Source for granting the title by SC is in the state records. Source relating to ownership has been given. Even if those records Can not be found online,it does not prove they do not exist.
At no point, during the Sumter crisis, was mentioned anyone doing a title search, much less finding it irregular. At no point did Beauregard claim that the U.S. didn't own the fort because the title was bad.
