George, I realize the practical truth of what you say, but on a guard post at night in what could easily become hostile territory, it can work on your mind. One dark night in Cuba, standing guard over an ammo magazine, I heard so much rustling in the grass I would have sworn I was being infiltrated. The next morning I was relieved to learn I was surrounded by newly hatched blue crabs, on their way to the mangrovs along the river, having spent the night scatching their way out of the abandoned cistern they were born in! I spent the night on top of the magazine, Model 97 shotgun tightly gripped in my hands. Whew! Of course, we would expect Major Anderson to be able to tell the difference in Confederates and whatever may have bothered him. Maybe he reacted to the wind blowing, or just decided to move to safer ground. Stan
