I have a lot of questions on the conduct of the garrison of Fort Moultrie, Charleston Arsenal,and the Army Engineer in charge of Fort Sumter in the months of October, 1860. I believe there was a lot of political in-fighting going on. I found a reference to a court martial of one of the leading officers in Gardner's command, a 1st Lt. O. Tillinghast, in the last week of October 1860. I found a web site dedicated to him, but no mention of his court martial.
