Re: Help save Gettysburg Battlefield.

You have some good points. It would be ideal if we took our children and did the teaching ourselves on a visit to a Battlefield. Ideal just doesn't always happen though. A few years ago we were in North Carolina and spent the day in Cherokee. We went with another couple and they were pretty much accommodating me by going to Cherokee. We'd been all over the place that week but that was the place I had on my must do list. It was really nice going through the Village and the museum n talking to a couple of the people in the archival place. Sure, they've made it a tourist destination and are cashing in as best they can. Then we went to the dang place my best friends hubby was dying to go to. Harrah's. Right there in Cherokee. I guess it's all fine if they're ok with it. Like the Poarch Creeks with their casino, it's an income and they need it but it just looked like a big blob out of place with the rest of the area. We ate there and did the slots and it wasn't anything I want to do again. I do want to go back and spend time in the resource department with the tribal documents. Anyhow, that's my long way around saying I can understand the need for commerce, but Gettysburg? You'd think even the Yankee's would object to that one.
