Indeed, I think we are getting an education in the meaning of "States Rights". One of these days it may be possible to get the emotions out of this history and study it objectively. But my point here is that since 1865, and the death of the Republic, we have always been fighting a "States Rights" Battle. And we have steadily lost the fight because people do not understand what Lee understood, that is the difference between a Republic, and a Democracy. The scary thing is historically a Democracy has always failed because the government, with the backing of the mob, becomes too powerful.
