The story is (and as far as I know it is just a family story) that the Adm. pretty much demanded my GGUncle help guide the Union flotilla into Mobile Bay. Uncle was a bar pilot and was active not only in the Pensacola area but Mobile too. When Uncle came on board he found his wifes cousin was among the crew in the boiler room or some other 'running the ship' job.
She was Mary Ann Weaver from Baltimore before her marriage to Phillip Anthony Caro. I really haven't seen any 'proof' of this event though.
