It's funny that I came across that information in a file on the family surname at the resource room run by the Hysterical Society. I'd heard it through the years, but then I did find it written as a memory in an article by a person who was not connected to the family. I have a copy of that statement but don't know how much is fact or fiction. I'd think there must be some truth to it because of the ones involved and the continuation of its telling. Also there's some record of naval activity, moving around, ships in and out of our port just before they hit Mobile Bay. Could be true. Just hope it's not. Somehow that sounds a bit like aiding the enemy. Not sure I want to know that. Hmmm, maybe I ought to shut up. ;)
