I believe this was the hurricane that hit between Mobile and Biloxi. The communites along that stretch of Mississippi coast did not get relief for about a week, and by the time the boats arrived they we're so desperate they took one of the ships by force demanding transportation out of the area. This is written in one of my histories of a Mississippi regiment, I think the 6th Miss.,... I'd have to look it up.
