Rebel Yell

I know we've covered this before in the past, but after listening to the only known recordings of two samples of Confederate veterans doing a rebel yell, and with a vague suggestion from a Youtube poster, I believe that the collective sound of charging Confederate soldiers, yelling the mysterious "rebel yell", would have sounded like thousands of Sand Hill Cranes in migration.

If you close your eyes and focus on the distant sounds of the thousands of birds, instead of the close up chirping, you kind of get the since of what it must have sounded like when thousands of voices were making that sound. Early in the morning, hearing a deafing sound, such as that, coming from the throats of 10,000 angry rebels, would have been terrifying.

Sounds crazy huh?
