Well this edition is one to take time going through. I'm trying to decide if the first part is saying disunion is wrong or it is right. Maybe it's just putting out arguments for both views but I'm trying to be "fair and balanced" in my reading. I would think the label "Black Republican" would get some dander stirred up.

Given the political articles and then reading of the crop failures and other misfortunes in the time span of days and weeks,it's not hard to understand why anyone would be ready to fight someone. But, I'd think just punching them should suffice. Fighting an entire war is another matter. S'pecially if you're not on the winning side. It took a lot of intestinal fortitude to don the Butternut or Gray and tote a gun and really mean it. It's always been difficult for me to comprehend the actual decision process but with the climate as it is in the capital today, I am really understanding it a whole lot better. I can see where it was a last resort. Since a state can't get a divorce from the union, it was at least a try for freedom.

Steam powered carriage? Cool!!

Lightning striking a ship, not so cool. It's not unheard of either.
