Re: 150 Years Ago Today..."Men's Rights???"

The evidence is really there. It's very clear too. The war was a planned event. Those 'events' leading to it were planned so it could commence. Though the 'sore spot' or 'hot button' today isn't slavery but illegal immigration, the states remembering they have rights is the closest I remember coming to an outright showdown in my lifetime. Some may believe it was in the 60's with the Civil Rights movement but I think this is a more nationwide awakening.

How can we not understand the frustration the Southern States felt? They had their hands tied by a Federal system that was leading them to disaster. I dunno, maybe just firing the cannon and getting the war going was thought to be an attempt at suicide by some but others saw it as a louder tea dumping show. We know the rest, it snowballed.

That's also interesting about Meigs. He was a bit out of the 'mold' wasn't he? Not quite by the book.

That's funny. The "Mens Rights". I can think of quite a few reasons the wives went to visit and they aren't because of the length of travel or the mode they had to use. Go Ladies!!!
