Thank you. That early conservation was a very good idea and sort of novel then. While they cleaned the yellow pines out around here, they left the Live Oaks alone thanks to the reservation. Our Live Oaks, from the grounds of Escambia High School (once known as The Rebels) are being used for repairs on the USS Constitution. Now that may not mean much to some youngun now, but we old Rebels understand. Years later, another Escambia grad. would be in the news but he came in after they were renamed the Gators. Doesn't matter. We still love Emmitt. They named the stadium after him. I'm not sure he knows the Rebel oaks were right there at the rim. :)
