I forgot to remind everyone that yesterday was the anniversery of the Battle of Sabine Pass, which President Davis compared to the Battle of Thermopalye. It was as important as the Red River Campaign, but much more extraordinary in the size difference of the opposing forces. Had the yankees succeded in the invasion, Texas would have been split up, possibly into 5 separate states.
