Well how bout that!? Breckinridge had a good point. If a state had the right to regulate capital punishment, why did it not have the right to accept or reject slavery?

Why were the Coolies going to Cuba? Why did no one consider them in the same light as they did slaves when it came to freedom? They were not free. If they survived long enough to repay their passage, they may have been able to buy into their own business.

Mr Britton should not have been able to bond out. Stabbed his wife with a Bowie knife? That’s not right.

What a very interesting piece on the Supreme Court! I believe there may be reruns of this sentiment in the years to come in our own time.
