It would seem there was a very premeditated method with these 'events'. I'd think it would be easier on the abolishionist to get to the slaves in that area that was mostly to the east of the state. They may have had second thoughts about going into areas that were less populated with whites and blacks and more populated with Indians. They wanted to cause trouble. They wanted to fan the flames but they did not want to be on the roasting spit.

If this is the news the regular folk were getting day by day, it was a very good reason for them to wig out. Again, as we have been experiencing in our own time, when the Federal government will not step up and do its job, the State has to for the welfare of the state. Good reason to leave the Union if the state felt the Union had already abandoned it. These reports sure do put another angle on the entire story. There's been some fact hiding and it's just now coming out of the um, cl, er, trunk.
