Please dont assume that the articles I am publishing show that crimes were only committed by slaves. I am afraid that I am at fault if that is what it looks like. These papers are large, and very fine print. The Daily True Delta printed twice a day a total of eight full pages of nothing but small font stories. I am leaving out about 95% of what is in these papers. I have to be selective in what I use from these papers. If I see an interesting article in the lives of slaves I will post it. This, I am trying to show, I hope, will give a different alternative to the histories of slaves normally published. The amount of crime in 1860 New Orleans is very sobering and those who commit those crimes come from every background...Mexicans, French, Irish, Americans, etc. Rape, murder, robbery , assault, duels, were a common and daily occurance in 1860 New Orleans.
