There's another news account from Mobile in the summer of 1862 that involved the 36th Alabama Regiment. I've lost everything on my laptop and will have to recover each file one by one. If I recall, a picket post of one sergeant and five enlisted men were all discovered ded one morning. There were some empty bottles nearby, and on examination it seems that they contained some liquid substance other than that given on the label. I don't recall particulars beyond that.

The failed airplane pilot in the movie "Airplane!" had one kind of drinking problem; these men had another.
