I probably should have replaced the word desire. I don't believe, in the beginning, they really wanted things to go as far as real war to dissolve the Union. What began as very real frustration, anger and distrust for the Federal Government on issues they considered very valid and a failure to come to any real acceptable resolution over the issues caused them to rethink the Union part of the deal. they then began to see there might be a workable solution with the Confederation of States. A last resort at the very least, but then it came to that point and they went with what they felt was right
