Are we saying that the Government itself can become oppressive and thereby cause unrest? Are we saying that there may have been some other reasons for fighting a Civil War other than the right to own slaves? How can that be since my dissatisfaction with our government does not stem from my desire to own a slave for any reason?

Could it be possible that the principals of government contained in a constitutional Republic form of Government being violated could cause internal conflict without the ownership of slaves being a primary cause? Could our present Government violate those same principals?
