As Jakeo said, if you have a digital camera that would be the way to go. It would be much quicker and not as bulky. The cards for these cameras are cheap often less than $25.00. Also for permanent storage of said images, get a 8gig flash drive for about the same price as a card. The flash drive would be about the size of your thumb.

Take photos in the highest resolution possible.
