You might thumb through the document and de-select those you won't need, this could cut your copying effort. Many of their documents are rather large bound volumes, not amiable to copying.

Note, the entry for Researchers, on Pennsylvania Ave., opens at 9 AM. After a rough exam by the entry security folks, you have to go through a processing process which might take 15 or so minutes, if you're first in line. Here you will get your Research's card.

Then you can go into the room next door to the Research Assistant's* room. They will ID your document, and fill out a Pull Request. Which, by this time may be close to 10 AM. If you make the 10 o'clock time for the Pull, then you will be able to view the document at 11 AM in the 2nd Floor Reading Room. If your request is not in by 10, the Pull will occur at 11 and available for review at noon.

I would suggest you try to get your document pre-approved for the 1st Pull before you arrive. Or at least have the form with you filled out with the pertinent information which you apparently have now.

I was just there on September 7 and went through this process. I tried to call them in advance, their listed phone number was not in service. My email request took 3 weeks for reply!

You are not allowed to take in papers/pencils/bags, etc. These you can store in a locker room which I believe is also located on the 2nd Floor.

If you use a camera, make sure you know how to turn off the flash which is not permitted.

A camera would be a lot faster for your large volume of work than a scanner.

Good hunting.
