I had a g-g-uncle in a East TN Unionist Regiment,Lt. James K. Morrow. He had two brother-in-laws, John and George Hickey (also in a loyalist TN unit). While in uniform and on a lawful mission on October 24 1863 they were captured and hanged out of hand by soldiers of 39th NC Infantry. Part of the Hang 'em high it'll teach 'em a lesson school. Anyone who thinks all the soldiers on one side had wings coming out of their back and the other's had horns sprouting from their head is sadly deluding his or her self.
