Stan you know a lot about your ancestors service in the war. Where they fought, captured, what regiment they were in. But let me ask you this? Do you know the names of any men they killed? I know the names of the men my ancestors killed. Do you know the names of the men who killed your ancestors. I know the names of the men who killed my ancestors. Would you recognize a descendant of the men who killed your family member if you met them on the street? Well Stan, I would. It's what happens when your people come from an isolated mountain region where views are split on the Civil War.
One other thing...during all this debate, there was a going back and forth on what to call the war. You can call it what you will. But in certain areas of Kentucky, East TN, Missouri, Maryland and West Virginia you could call it a Civil War. An a brutal one at that. No Knights in shining armour. Guess that makes my view a little different fro both the average reb or yank. But hey that's what the board is about. ;-)
