Cotton Prices Hit 140-Year High...

On a lighter note from our current "Arming The Slaves" thread, I thought this was an interesting story. Oh, and for our Northern posters, this does not mean I want to re-institute slavery, even though I live in the South. I found the story interesting as it identifies the major Cotton producers today the source of the increased demand, China.

Who knows, maybe we'll see those beautiful bolls flowing across the fields of the Delta again. Of course, these days we pick Cotton with very sophisticated and expensive "combines".

I miss the Cotton fields of the South I knew as a kid. Here again, for those ready to pounce, I do not want to re-institute share cropping or have people out in the fields bent-over, picking the Cotton by hand, singing old "negro spirituals". It's the sheer beauty and nostalgia of a cotton field at harvesting time that I'd like to see again.
