Look at the Ordinances of secession ( Not the immediate cause)they support many issues other than slavery.
Regardless of what quote you pull up by anyone, unless you can provided a sourced quote by Davis, or a summary of tha vote by the CSA Congress, then the point can be made the war was not about slavery. Lincolln never said he was fighting to free the slaves, Grant didn’t Sherman didn’t Sheridan didn’t. Was anybody fighting either way or slavery? Yes you did provide a quote and without really looking I can probably find a Yankee quote that says “the only reason I am fighting to free the slaves.”
JAKEo’s position is the contention that the reason the “CSA leadership” did not want to arm the slaves is to maintain slavery. I looked up his post and reposted it in another reply to verify that position. I want proof which he has failed to supply that this was the official position of the CSA government and not just a few congressmen. On that point has the entire congress and senate of The United states voted 100% for or against any bill? I am not talking about declarations of war.
