Steve knows what I'm talking about here. Our local Parish (County) festival has always been called the "Cotton Festival". They still crown a "King Cotton" and a "Queen Cotton". I don't recall the last time I saw cotton planted in this Parish. The next Parish north of me, ten miles away has some cotton fields.

Jim, I understand what you mean. I love the smell of the fields and nothing is prettier than a big full moon lighting up the fields. Instinct, repressed memories or just imagination? I missed picking cotton by hand by a little bit. But, as Roy Clark sang... I never picked cotton... but my mother did..."
