Stan...I was not aware of any other way to spell Mississippi other than Humpback I, etc....

An interesting exercise would be to determine the cost of producing a bale of cotton under the plantation system of farming vs the cost of producing a bale of cotton using modern equipment i.e. planters, aircraft pest control, mechanical pickers, etc.

I still know where a few cotton farmers still plant. I have also noticed that the mechanical pickers leave substantial amounts of cotton in the bolds. I suppose it is more expensive to use the mechanical pickers than it is to leave the residue of the cotton in the fields.

Which system would have the best "bottom line"?
