My point here is that the memory of Blacks serving in the Civil War was over a period of nearly 120 years or so, was very unfocused and for many years ignored. I find it very interesting that here and now we are recognizing Black Southern history but since it does not follow the status quo it must be suppressed. I can reference a Civil War history book that has a complete section dedicated to Black Confederate soldiers, written in 1866 and published in New York, so this is not revisionist history.
