I disagree strongly with Jake on certain points, but feel that most of his posts are reasonable. Try finding a dyed-in-the-wool Yankee on another board who actually reads posts by anyone taking the Southern position and responds to them rationally. They're an endangered species.

Folks who insist "It wasn't about slavery!" seem to think posting certain words and phrases in all caps and repeating themselves will silence the opposition. They quickly become tiresome and boring - not unlike the rabid Yankee, who employs the same methods.

I welcome Jake and anyone else who will argue with them, even if they take some points to extremes.
