My opinion means little, but here goes. I agree that anyone who served in support roles in the military, particularly in the field of combat, are soldiers. That goes for teamsters, cooks, shoe makers, laborers, musicians, and conscripts of all races. That is why it does not matter to me whether these men picked up a musket and shot at yankees. They were all soldiers in my view and they made direct and significant contributions as support to combat troops. No teamsters and no cooks means no army.....at least not anything that would resemble the Confederate Army.
