Cump, my folks in the 18th Georgia fought at Knoxville. The CO, S.Z. Ruff, was killed, and the Company CO of my folks, James Lile Lemon, was captured atop the parapet. There were about 50 Borings on each side, the family having started spreading north and south not too long after John Boring arrived from Ireland in 1688. My branch went south, and the others spread into Pennsylvania and ohio, mostly. Isaac Boring, and one of my McCollum folks, Peter, received land grants in Georgia from their Revolutionary War service. The first McCollum came from Scotland to New Jersey in 1732.
