Jim, forgive me (off topic)

I know this is off topic so I am asking my friend Jim to forgive me but if I don't say this I will explode.

Today I am bringing my son to a wake for one if his school mates. This young man died Saturday morning from injuries recieved in a car accident. He was to be the Homecoming Sr. Prince Saturday night. The Homecoming was held but his "princess" walked alone. Needless to say there was an ocean of tears in the gymnasium Saturday night.

My son had escorted the young man's sister to their Jr. Prom and when my son was still on the Jr. Varsity baseball team last year (my son moved up to Varsity) they played side by side. My son at first base, this youngster at second base. The holidays are going to be a time of mourning for the family, friends and school mates.

Please, teach your young ones, whether your kids, grandkids or any young one, DO NOT TEXT & DRIVE. Us old folks could use the reminder as well. I will not say more. But please, let's stop seeing folks die over a phone call. I am teaching my son not to answer his phone when he is driving. Either find somewhere to stop and return the call or simply wait until you get where you are going to call back.

I was heart broke over the news Dennis has lost his mate and then I spent this past weekend at the church for the wake and funeral of my "Uncle" (cousin actually). He got me going playing music in public when I was a teenie weenie lad. I pray a safe and happy Holiday season for all of you.
