Re: 1st Louisiana Native Guard Death

It's a worm can when trying to match names and those recording them did not quite have spell check. My ancestor in Virginia was a DuToit. I've seen him listed as every combination under the sun and only one time was it correct.

I was also wondering, how were the Creole's listed? The Redbones? Some could well have passed as white. The cultural stigma may have been put aside when it came to needing men who could fire a gun.
