Colonel Cross was born in my hometown, Lancaster, NH, and is buried in the Wilder Cemetery there. Good book about him and his regiment, the Fifth N.H. is "My Brave Boys: To War with Colonel Cross and the Fighting Fifth," by Mike Pride and Mark Travis.
