To this day, as we well know, there are those who do not understand there may well have been more to the Confederate States desire to leave the Union than one single issue. States Rights is now a ‘new’ cause. Kind of makes me sick when I hear it put out as 'new' but if I tell myself it may help others ‘get it’ in the long run than let it alone. The Confederate soldier was also fighting to protect his home. Something that wasn’t all that common to the Union soldier. The “Confederate demonstrations” is a bit worrisome to me. Like, what did he think would happen? There was a war going on. The “Confederate Demonstration” was the Confederate Army! Maybe he was trying to convince himself. He knew too many on the Confederate side.
