NOLA Newspapers 1835-1836
In Response To: Watie's Cherokee Regiment ()

David, noticing you have been reading the NOLA newspapers, have you noticed any that go back to and shortly after October 13, 1835?

That is the evening during which the New Orleans Greys were organized (see http://www.tshaonline.org/handbook/online/articles/qjn02 ) under Colonel James W. Fannin to fight in the Texas Revolution.

My Ancestor, Nathanial R. Brister, was Col. Fannin's Adjutant. He was assasinated, along with several hundred others of Fannin's command at Goliad (see

http://www.tshaonline.org/handbook/online/articles/qeg02 ) on March 27, 1836.

If you happen to run across any online NOLA newspapers going back to either October 13, 1835 or or March 27, 1836, might you please direct me to where they might be viewed?

Best always and merry Christmas to you and your family, David

Dennis
