Looking at individuals you will see a hundred reasons for each hundred men to go off to fight. Not every letter home read like a political campaign speech. Most were on personal stuff, like "I need socks" or tell Mr. Rugwart I was with Willy when he died and he wasn't suffering. That stuff. I would like to know if those cheering a Yankee General were Confederates though. I can’t imagine any Confederate who had a clue where Tullahoma, Murfreesboro, Bell Buckle were located cheering a Yankee. It isn’t what we want to believe, it’s what we do believe because we have read letters, journals n such to give us the information.
On garden planting? Leave it alone. You will not win. We have idiots transporting Palm Trees and setting them all over the place. We may be Florida, but not the Palm Coast. Most ‘historic’ homes have Azaleas. I think Sweet Olive and Myrtle were more the real deal. That is why I try not to deal with those hysterical lady society’s. They’re hysterical, not historical. Hmm, funny, I haven’t seen any Beggers Lice planted in those gardens either. That’s for sure native.
