I once had a copy of a request to Joe Brown from an officer in North GA. Quite frankly I can't even remember if it was Rabun, Fannin or Union county. He mentions that he has quite a few men willing to serve in state service but not out of state as Confederate soldiers. I may have given it to a relative in GA. Brown and Vance both were able to find some able bodied men for state service, not just the elderly or men missing an eye or limb.
