The Tennessee questionnaires of Confederate veterans make for interesting reading. Not much there to confirm class warfare in Tennessee during the 1850s.

Democratic party line seems to be that people who are well off should be dragged from their homes and punished. I'm not too sure many people felt that way in 1860.
