Thanks Alan. The newspaper microfilms and the papers themselves are in the University of West Florida's basement. Probably the best place for them. Our Curator and funniest speaker in town takes good care of 'stuff'. I need to get out there and dig.

I was confused on the point that Gov Perry had asked the Federal level for new guidelines or rules or whatever when it was a state militia. I get the supplies coming from the Feds but I don't know the ins and outs of the militia formation.

Since the 'guidelines' never were sent, and the supply that was approved never was sent, I guess they were adding 2+2 in DC.

The reason for the Alabama troops coming here and others such as Mississippi was a question voiced by someone the other day at the Gen. Library. Now, I understand the reason why no Florida militia was here. I wondered why my GGGrandfather, from around Lake City, Fl joined in Tampa. Seemed a long way off to me but then, he joined the infantry, not the militia.
