The events of the Presidential election of 2,000 and that "stolen election" and those of the last two years have been educational in our lifetime to better understand how such events in 1860 could raise emotions to such a fever pitch than it would be thought necessary to seceed from the United States in order to preserve the rights and freedoms that were given to us under the Constitution.

I could image what would happen today, if a law was passed, in the same manner as the Health Care bill of last year, that repeals say the 2nd Amendment, especially with an unpopular and polarizing President who had won his presidency by a questionable election process.

1861 was politically a 'Perfect Storm'.
