It is believed that exact 10 inch Columbiad is now located at Fort Sumter. It is a 10-inch M1844 - rifled. According to which Columbiad you are testing, and how the results very. This tube is rated at 5,654 yards at an elevation angle of 39 degrees, with shot, and 20lb charge. Its sister is rated at 4,828 yards at a 35 degree angle, with shell, and 18lb charge. According to two accounts of the defense of Fort Sumter by officers who were there, the artillery officer in charge of this weapon believed, with a reduced weight round, he could easily hit Charleston (Charleston's East Battery is about 5,900 yards away, Castle Pickney is 4,492 yards away).

Either way it would be a difficult shot to pull off.

Stats for these two guns are found in Artillery and Ammunition of The Civil War, Warren Ripley.
