Edward, your comment was rightly put. My caveat was to so many people who say the Medal was "won", when the recipients are so adamantly opposed to the term. To a man they say it is to honor their fellow comrades, who actually deserve more honor than those who are recognized. By saying "men" I do not mean any disrespect to Dr. Mary Walker, who was commisioned a Major to become eligible. Her award was rescinded, then returned to her family many years later.
