On this date 150 years ago, another state, Arizona, voted to leave the Union and join the Confederacy, in a convention at Mesilla. The Confederate government later established a territorial government for Arizona.

The Confederacy, knowing that its' future depended greatly on recognition, appointed commissioners to Britain.
