Well huh? Sooo, what was the point? Could someone have been testing Porter's loyalty? Did he not go on to play a larger role on the Mississippi? Or was it just a game of what cup is the nut under? Passing strange it is. There couldn't have been anything realllllly important at Ft Jefferson to divert the Powhatten there. That was the only stop it made on its way round to the Gulf wasn't it?
