I did get my book signed and that is a plus. Horwitz is entertaining. As with his writing, his talks are interesting and full of humor even if it's not about what I thought it would be. I did know going in he wasn't of Confederate roots. Even with the humor and amount of research on the subject, he lacks the 'connection' we see in Southern writers such as Rick Bragg or Winston Groom. They can reel you in and make you think he's talking about your family with one sentence. That's a storytellers gift. We all know a story teller with that 'gift'.

I'm interested in reading his new book on John Brown, but won't purchase it. Gotta love the public library.
