That sounds like a real nice find. There are so many tidbits about this town it's hard to keep up with all of them. The Spanish era is full of surprises. I bemoan the fact our kids aren't getting all of this information but the real 'fact' is, I still don't have all of it. The British era has been downplayed but it is one of the most interesting. Short, but interesting. At least we got streets mapped out in a grid instead of just where ever someone decided to put up a house.

The 'other' flags that flew here are a real insight into the attitude many of the residents when the CW was upon them. Some of the old 'Spanish' guard were still waiting for Spanish ships to return and retake the area. This lasted into the 1900's. That is one reason there really wasn't a lot of 'zeal' for either side when the war began. I do wonder, could that have been more widespread than just Pensacola?
