Joe, there were very few Southern photographers in the field. The vast majority were on the Northern side. There is a series by a Louisianan of Yankee cavalry bivouacked. He was doing surveillance! Most big towns had one or two, but they stayed at home to shoot tintypes. They did not have the sophisticated equipment required in the field.
